英検準１級の受験者と合格者は、年々増加しています。中高生で挑戦することもふつうになり、特に難関大学を目ざす受験生には最適な試験といえます。それでもまだ、準１級はハードルが高すぎる、と２級までであきらめてしまう人が多いようです。
では、どんな作文を書けば、準１ライティング合格ライン突破できるのでしょうか？前回の合格者２名に、本番で実際に書いたエッセイをシェアしてもらいました。
トピックに合った内容と適切な構成、正しい英文の配置と品詞の使い方、語彙の豊富さと的確さ、難しい文法や構文をたくさん使っているわけではありませんが、読み手に自分の意見を明確に伝え、十分に納得させられる内容になっています。
約20分間で書き上げなければいけないのですから、問われるのは英語能力だけではありません。日ごろから社会や教育、環境などのさまざまな分野や事象に関心と意見をもつこと。この2名はそれができていたからこそ、短時間でこの文章を書きあげることができたのですね。
TOPIC: Is it acceptable to keep animals in zoos?
（動物園に動物をキープしておくことの是非を問う）
１、Ｋちゃん（高２）
I think it is acceptablee to keep animals in zoos. I have two reasons.
Firstly, in zoos, animal’s living conditions will be kept cleanly and safely. Thesedays, a lot of animals are losing their food living conditions because of the global warming or the human’s development. Zoos can give them enough food and clean living areas. Also, there are no hostils in the areas. It must be the greatest condition for animals.
Secondly, zoos try hard to protect endangered spiecies. They don’t have enough power and conditions to bring up their children. Zoos have certain knowledges about how to protect them and contribute to increase the number of the children of them so some animals should be in zoos.
Therefore, keeping animals in zoos is acceptable.
２、Ｋちゃん（社会人）
I think that it is acceptable to keep animals in zoos. There are some advantages for animals and also humans by doing so.
Firstly, zoos are built for animals to live comfortably. These animals come from various living conditions so some people may claim animals are suffering from unfamiliar environment. However, it makes animals possible to live more safely and healthly if they are kept in zoos. Thus, it results help endangered spiecies alive.
Secondly, many people would have been to zoos at least once. My elementary school had a school trip to go to a zoo, and students had to present an animal they liked in front of classmates. All of students seemed to enjoy presenting. By watching animals which people won’t ususally see, they are attracted and are interested in animals. Therefore, there are educational value on keeping animals in zoos.
Because of reasons above, it is acceptable to keep animals in zoos since it is beneficial to both animals and humans.
